Pato

Design by Welling/Ludvik for Fredericia

Pato was developed around a simple ambition: to create a chair that performs well while using resources responsibly.

From the beginning, the project balanced comfort, durability and functionality with careful consideration of materials, production and lifespan.

Over time, the collection has continued to evolve while remaining rooted in the same principles.

Design Approach

Some products are defined by a single innovation.

Others are shaped through continuous refinement.

Pato belongs to the latter.

The project was developed with a holistic view of the product lifecycle, considering material use, maintenance, longevity and future recyclability alongside comfort and everyday performance.

Rather than treating responsibility as an added feature, it became part of the design framework itself.

The ambition was to create a chair capable of serving many different environments while maintaining a responsible relationship with the resources from which it is made.

Material & Construction

At the centre of the collection is a carefully developed shell combined with a wide range of bases and applications.

The family has evolved through new materials, improved recyclability and bio-based alternatives while maintaining its original clarity and comfort.

The construction is guided by a commitment to durability, material efficiency and long-term use.

The result is a collection where responsible thinking is embedded within the design rather than added afterwards.
